…because I singlehandedly fund the Saint Louis Police Department.
I’m five days shy of celebrating my first year in as an STLer, and I’ve received one parking ticket per month, on average. This would not be the case if it hadn’t been for that week in June ā€” when I was short of quarters and unconcerned, and thus cited three days in a row.
The officers here have an uncanny ability of knowing when my meter is up, or that my car is parked next to a barely recognizable yellow curb.
So today, fresh from my tantrum over discovering my twelfth violation on the windshield, I vow to make it through the next year without a parking ticket.
Oh, and I’m going on a diet.
